


Mohammed Mukhtar Al Khalil
Director of Al Jazeera Centre for Studies and holds a doctorate in political science. He worked for Qatar’s Al-Sharq newspaper as a journalist and head of its political section before joining Al Jazeera in 2000. He was among the founding members of the Aljazeera.net as an Editorial Secretary, then assistant to the Managing Editor, and finally as Managing Editor. He specialises in international relations and the geopolitics of the Arab world and western Africa. He also has experience in training and consulting on electronic journalism, journalistic editing and establishment and management of media organisations.

Basyouni Hamada
Professor of Communication and Public Opinion and the Chairman of the Department of Mass Communication at Qatar University. His teaching and research focus on the interdisciplinary areas of political communication, journalism ethics, Arab media systems, de-Westernising communication studies and social media and the transformation of journalism as a profession. His articles appeared in refereed journals such as Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Journalism Studies, Javnost – The Public, and the Journal of International Communication. He has taught at several universities including Cairo University, the American University in Cairo, the International Islamic University Malaysia, United Arab Emirates University and Northwestern University in Doha.
